May Wrap-up!

May is HOPEFULLY the last month that I won’t have a ton of time for blogging because after this coming Monday, I will not have any more homework! At all! Because I’m finishing my degree! No more essays! Yay! I’ll have more time and energy for blogging-writing, so hopefully I’ll be doing more blogging along with my reading in my spare time. I have a lot of catching up to do!

Reads for May

Here’s all I read in May:

Song of Blood & Stone by L. Penelope (ARC) — 4 of 5 stars — review here!

The Girl and the Grove by Eric Smith (ARC) — 5 of 5 stars — review forthcoming!

Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson (ARC) — 5 of 5 stars — review forthcoming!

Blood Standard by Laird Barron (ARC) (DNF) — 2 of 5 stars

Fatty Legs by Christy Jordan-Fenton — 5 of 5 stars

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake — 5 of 5 stars — review forthcoming!

Ship It by Britta Lundin — 2 of 5 stars — review forthcoming!

Anger Is a Gift by Mark Oshiro (ARC) — 5 of 5 stars — review forthcoming!

Devils Within by S. F. Henson — 3 of 5 stars

The History of Jane Doe by Michael Belanger (ARC) — 4 of 5 stars — review forthcoming!

Ivy Aberdeen’s Letter to the World by Ashley Herring Blake — 5 of 5 stars — review forthcoming!

Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany D. Jackson — 4 of 5 stars

I’m keeping track of all of these that I’m marking “review forthcoming” even if I don’t get them done right away. I swear.

Reading stats:

  • Number of books read: 12 (including 1 DNF)
  • Number of nonfiction books: 1
  • Number of ARCs: 6
  • Number of books by marginalized authors: ~9
  • Number of books read for class: 1
  • Number of library books: 2

I’ve still been keeping on-par with the number of books I’ve been reading! I’m getting through ARCs and new releases and checking out fewer library books in favor of the books I’ve already read, so on the reading front I’m doing great! Reviewing is another story… I’m working on it. June will be better.

On The Personal Side…

My life right now is basically 1.) finishing up my last two assignments for all of my degree, and 2.) job-hunting. I am tired, but I am trying. I will have more of a life in June and will have more of a personality to talk about stuff with…

How was your May? Are you looking forward to anything special in June?

May Preorders!

It’s a new month! That means there are new books to be excited about! I’ve been finding so many good-sounding things to order this year, and I’m super excited.

Here are my May picks!

Ship It by Britta Lundin

Release date: 1 May 2018
Format: Kindle
Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Ship-Britta-Lundin-ebook/dp/B077XL5JGD/

I ended up preordering this one at the VERY LAST MINUTE because I hadn’t actually heard about it until the last day of April! It sounded like a really good comp suggestion for Gena/Finn by Hannah Moskowitz and Kat Helgeson, and that led to impulse-buying this one. No regrets.

Cinnamon Blade: Knife in Shining Armor, a spicy super hero f/f romance by Shira Glassman

Superheroes. F/F romance. A bi Jewish superheroine. There’s just so much here to love.

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake

Release date: 15 May 2018
Format: Hardcover
Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Girl-Stars-Ashley-Herring-Blake/dp/1328778231/

I adored Blake’s previous release How To Make A Wish, so I was immediately excited for her next release. I’m expecting that this one will be really heavy, and Blake’s writing is really strong when it comes to heaviness.

The Strange Fascinations of Noah Hypnotik by David Arnold

My friend @tayberryjelly was REALLY excited about this one after reading an ARC, and after that I ended up reading one of Arnold’s other releases and ADORED it. I’m definitely sold on this one.

From Twinkle, With Love by Sandhya Menon

Release date: 22 May 2018
Format: Hardcover

I admit that I’ve been putting off reading When Dimple Met Rishi for an embarrasingly long amount of time, but I’m hoping to get to it before this one comes out. It sounds really adorable, and I need more adorable on my shelves.

Monday’s Not Coming by Tiffany Jackson

Format: Kindle

Jackson’s debut, Allegedly, wasn’t my favorite read of last year, but her writing was really strong and I thought that the story just wasn’t right for me. The premise of this one sounds like a better fit for me, so I’m hoping it’s even better than its predecessor!
