Oh, do I have preorders this month! I actually have several physical books for September, which is quite a change from the rest of the year. May Preorders!

It’s a new month! That means there are new books to be excited about! I’ve been finding so many good-sounding things to order this year, and I’m super excited.

Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Ship-Britta-Lundin-ebook/dp/B077XL5JGD/

I ended up preordering this one at the VERY LAST MINUTE because I hadn’t actually heard about it until the last day of April! It sounded like a really good comp suggestion for Gena/Finn by Hannah Moskowitz and Kat Helgeson, and that led to impulse-buying this one. No regrets.

Cinnamon Blade: Knife in Shining Armor, a spicy super hero f/f romance by Shira Glassman

I admit that I’ve been putting off reading When Dimple Met Rishi for an embarrasingly long amount of time, but I’m hoping to get to it before this one comes out. It sounds really adorable, and I need more adorable on my shelves.

Image of book cover from Goodreads

Release date: 22 May 2018
Format: Kindle
Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Mondays-Not-Coming-Tiffany-Jackson/dp/0062422677/

Jackson’s debut, Allegedly, wasn’t my favorite read of last year, but her writing was really strong and I thought that the story just wasn’t right for me. The premise of this one sounds like a better fit for me, so I’m hoping it’s even better than its predecessor!

Are you preordering any May releases? Let’s chat about them in the comments!

What books are you looking forward to in April? Let me know in the comments!

March Preorders!

Considering it’s already about halfway through March this post is a LITTLE late, but it’s one that I consider important so I’m posting it anyway! All of my picks have stunning covers this month, so I ended up preordering all hardcovers this time around. I preordered four books for March, and half of them are already in my house, so let’s take a look at them!

Here are my March picks!

This book has already made it to my doorstep, and it’s the only on of my March preorders that I’ve read so far. This book was highly recommended by my friend Em, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. This book ripped my heart into pieces and sewed them back together. It’s a tough read, but so, so worth it. Full review coming soon!

I picked up this middle grade, which is on my coffee table but not yet read, because of how much I loved Blake’s YA novel How To Make A Wish. I don’t read as much MG as I should, so I’m looking forward to this one!

What have you preordered for March? If you’ve received March preorders already, have you enjoyed your picks?

February 2018 Preorders!

It’s a new month, which means new books coming out! I preordered my next batch of new releases during January, and almost all of my picks come out on the same day… Choosing what I want to read next week will be a bit of a struggle. I also only preordered ebooks this month, so my bookshelves will fill up a little slower and my iPad will be very happy to spend some more quality time with me.

Here are my February picks!

The Catch by Kat Helgeson

Image of book cover from Goodreads
Image of book cover from Goodreads

Release date: 3 February 2018
Format: ebook
Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B078WJXT8N/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1515559331&sr=8-1&keywords=kat+helgeson

Teenage trapeze artists and friendship struggles? Yes, please! Kat Helgeson’s newest book comes out tomorrow, and it’s the only book I’ve preordered that does not release next Tuesday. Kat is a talented writer, so if you have $2.99 to buy an ebook, you should buy this one! (Also, it’s Kat’s birthday tomorrow and buying her book from her is a good present. Just sayin’.)

Pride Must Be A Place by Kevin Craig

Image of book cover from Goodreads

Release date: 6 February 2018
Format: ebook
Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Pride-Must-Place-Kevin-Craig-ebook/dp/B078KJQZLZ/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1515559417&sr=1-1&keywords=kevin+craig

I’ve been reading Kevin’s books since I was a teenager myself, and as someone who grew up queer in a small town who has done and continues to do the code-switching out/sort of out/not out, this story is right up my alley. I can’t wait to read it! (Like The CatchPride Must Be A Place is *also* only $2.99 — budget-friendly picks, here!)

The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza by Shaun David Hutchinson

Format: ebook
Amazon: https://smile.amazon.com/Apocalypse-Elena-Mendoza-Shaun-Hutchinson-ebook/dp/B074ZPXDF9/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

I’ve heard a lot of amazing things about this one, and Shaun David Hutchinson’s stories are so relatable and so “out there” at the same time and I just eat them up. If you like weird stories, this could be a good choice!

Down and Across by Arvin Ahmadi

Crossword puzzles and adventures — sounds like a great time, right? The highly relatable young adult theme of what the hell am I supposed to do with my life now is a huge draw for this book, and I’m really excited for a book like this one.

American Panda by Gloria Chao

Image of book cover from Goodreads

Every day I keep hearing more and more amazing things about this book and I get more and more excited about it arriving on my iPad next Tuesday. Mei’s parents want her to become a doctor and marry a Taiwanese Ivy Leaguer, but she can’t handle germs and falls for her Japanese classmate. The struggles between parent and child desires here remind me of some of the similar themes in Love, Hate and Other Filters, which I loved, and American Panda promises to be funny and heartfelt. I have high hopes for this one!

What are you preordering for February? (Also, what the hell do I read first on the 6th of February?!) Let me know in the comments!

January 2018 Preorders!

As I’d mentioned in a previous post, I’m going to be preordering books month-by-month this year so that I can keep better track of what I’m buying! I have preordered five books for January, and I’m really excited for them. Here’s what I’m getting!

You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Image of book cover from Goodreads

Release date: 2 January 2018

I’ve only been aware of this book’s existence for less than a week, and I am extremely excited about it. I love stories about sibling relationships, and this books explores the relationship between these twins as they grapple with love, their Jewish identities, and the potential threat Huntington’s disease. I can’t wait until this arrives this week!

Before I Let Go by Marieke Nijkamp

bilg

Friendship stories are also high on my list, and this story deals with the loss of a best friend and small town secrets surrounding her death. The MC is also asexual, there are several other queer characters in the book, and it also has mental illness rep, which sounds fantastic.

Love, Hate, and Other Filters by Samira Ahmed

I have heard nothing but good things about this book, and it sounds wonderful. An Indian-American Muslim teen grapples with her personal life and future while coping with anti-Islam sentiments from her community spurred by a crime that happens elsewhere in the country. It’s a story about belonging and finding yourself, and I can’t wait to read it.

Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann

Image of book cover from Goodreads

Release date: 23 January 2018

Who wants a love story featuring a Black, asexual, biromantic teen? I sure do! The cover is gorgeous, the story sounds fluffy and fun, and I cannot wait to dive into this one. (Additionally, I’m choosing to read this book for my YA resources class this term! The release timing is just right for reading it for a specific module, and I’m excited to discuss it with my classmates.)

Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh
